The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is the nation’s largest funder of social care research training. We work alongside social care researchers to discover and develop evidence-based solutions that help address the challenges faced by social care systems. Our focus is on research that can improve care services, enhance wellbeing, and shape future policies. Since 2006, we’ve invested over £200 million in social care research projects.
If you are interested in engaging with research, we are here to support you. Whether you are new to research or have previous experience, there are many opportunities within NIHR to get involved.
We support research across social care and social work in many ways:
- fund research projects and offer research training and career development for social care practitioners
- deliver a network of support to enable research within the sector
- provide opportunities for carers, social care practitioners, people who draw on social care services and their families to influence and take part in research
