In Wandsworth, we believe that strong relationships are the foundation of effective social work. Our social workers demonstrate tenacity, empathy and skill in connecting with children and families—especially those who may have felt let down by services in the past. It is through these relationships that we see real change, and it is this relational practice that sits at the heart of our Outstanding Practice Framework.

We recognise that families are resourceful and resilient. Our approach is to work alongside them, building on their strengths and supporting sustainable change. We aim to reduce unnecessary intervention and promote family-led solutions, ensuring that children can thrive in safe, nurturing environments.

We are proud of our progress and the impact of our Family Safeguarding model, which brings together multi-disciplinary teams to support whole-family working. This integrated approach helps us keep children safely at home, while addressing the wider needs of their families. Alongside relational and systemic approaches and our Family Hub delivery model, we have built strong foundations to deliver the social care reforms

In Wandsworth, better never stops. Society is becoming increasingly complex, and we must adapt to the specific challenges our children, families and workforce face in a diverse and evolving inner-London population. Through the Families First Partnership Programme, we are developing our services with this in mind.  Our ambition is clear: to be the best place in London to raise a child.
