Wandsworth is one of the largest Inner London boroughs comprising a collection of many different communities, each with its own distinct character and a wide ethnic and cultural diversity. We have large inner-city housing estates, leafy suburbs, vibrant town centres and some of London’s very best parks and commons. Our diversity is our strength, and makes Wandsworth an exciting and dynamic place to live and work.
Our Outstanding Practice Framework is built on systemic practice and holistic, engaging, people centred and motivational interviewing interventions. Together with the Family Safeguarding approach our ethos is focussed on identifying and meeting need, rather than focussing on identifying risk. This drives a principled centred approach that supports families to help themselves and support their child and young person to thrive. Because we know that if the family can be supported to achieve sustainable change children and young people have the best chance of reaching their potential. So our core practice to improve lives centres around working with families, being respectful, honest, reliable and recognising their strengths.
We are so proud of our children’s social workers and recognise that it is only with our wonderful, dedicated workforce that go the extra mile every day, can we achieve success for our children and families. This is why we are delighted to be sponsors of the Social Worker of the Year Awards.
