London Borough of Havering
Havering is a London borough like no other: 43 miles square with a population of 262,000, it is situated on the north east edge of London between the hustle and bustle of the city and the surrounding Essex countryside with attractive green spaces.
We are also unique in our political makeup, with Havering Residents’ Association working in co-operation with other political groups to make Havering an even better place to live and work. We have one of the highest proportions of older people aged 65+ in London and one of the fastest growing child populations in the country.
There is a vibrant culture, with our community becoming increasingly diverse, we promote a dynamic and innovative approach to working with our residents in need of Social Care support. ‘Better Living’ is our strengths based approach to practice in Adults Social Care, alongside our ‘Face to Face’ systemic and strengths based practice model in Children’s Services. Havering leads the North East London Social Work teaching partnership in developing a sustainable culture of Practice Learning and Leadership in social work.
We have a strong corporate agenda and are embedding an increasingly insight-driven culture, which we think makes this a very exciting time for people who live and work in Havering. Choose Havering represents the Council’s commitment to creating an organisation that is the best it can be for residents and staff.
