HISTORY OFTHE AWARDS
The Social Worker of the Year Awards were established in 2006 by independent social work practitioner, Beverley Williams. After qualifying as a social worker in 2004, Beverley felt that there should be an awards ceremony to recognise the hard work and positive impact that social workers have on the lives of vulnerable children, families and adults.
The aim of the Social Worker of the Year Awards is to recognise and celebrate the challenging work that qualified social workers do day in, day out, and highlight their achievements.
The Social Work Awards achieved charitable status in 2011.
Beverley was awarded with an MBE for setting up the awards in the 2015 New Year’s Honours List and remains actively involved in the organisation of the event.
