Sammie Critchley

           RECOGNISE INSPIRING SOCIAL WORK

Sammie Critchley has worked within social care for over 11 years, beginning her career in Special Educational Needs Colleges before moving on to work as a Social Care Officer within Adult Social Care at a local authority. After three years of study, Sammie graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University earlier this year with a degree in Social Work. She is now a Social Worker at Wigan Council.

Speaking about her career, Sammie said "I have always wanted to work within the Social Work sector on account of growing up with a younger brother with autism, learning difficulties and complex health conditions. My childhood exposed me to how stressful certain situations could be for individuals with learning disabilities and the families/carers that support them. Ever since then, I have wanted to do whatever I can do help make this easier for people."
