Wandsworth council is thrilled once again to sponsor the Social Worker of the Year awards – a celebration of exceptional social work practice.

We continue to see the legacy of the impact and disruption that Covid-19 brought to the lives of many children and the power of social work and social workers to change lives is transformational. We believe this should be celebrated and given centre stage.

Social Work is a profession that doesn’t seek the spotlight. As social workers, we believe our role is to harness and tap into the inner resources of each and every child and family we work with to unlock change. With the recruitment and retention crisis, the profession is facing it has never been more important to ensure excellent social work is given time in the spotlight, to value the commitment of families to parenting children in often very adverse circumstances, and to hold aloft a profession that is proud.
