Derbyshire County Council welcome the opportunity to support this year’s social work awards. There has never been a more important time to recognise the key role of social workers in supporting people and local communities. The pandemic has been challenging for everyone, but we are so proud of the support social workers in Derbyshire have provided to our adults, children, and their families. Often going the extra mile whilst working to minimise the risk of infection across services, the community, and their own families and loved ones.
In Children’s Services, Systemic practice continues to be the preferred operating model and working in partnership with other agencies is key to ‘Stronger Families and Safer Children’. We are delighted to recognise the collective contribution to person led and child-centred practice all agencies have made during these challenging times.
In Adult Care, the strength-based practice has been central to achieving the most independent outcomes for people with the principles of Home First, responsive, effective hospital discharge, and increasing the uptake of short-term services. Covid has provided many challenges but also opportunities for working with people to identify digital outcomes and solutions to keep them in touch and manage their lives.
It has been truly incredible to witness the level of innovation and commitment to practice throughout the last year, from Derbyshire social workers and those across the whole country. We wish everyone the best of luck in achieving an award this year, whilst waving the flag for Derbyshire social workers, as they really do deserve the recognition.
