Barnardo’s works hard to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people. Thomas Barnardo founded the charity in 1866 and since then we have helped hundreds of thousands of children to grow up happy and healthy.
We believe in children and young people and their right to thrive. Our vision is to realise Thomas Barnardo’s dream of a world where no child is turned away from the help that they need. Last year we helped and reached more than 300,000 children, young people, parents and carers through our services.
However, we cannot achieve this without the help of social workers, who work side by side with our staff and volunteers supporting children and young people in need every day. Our work includes helping children to find a loving foster home or adoptive parent; supporting them after abuse or sexual exploitation; supporting a disabled child and their family, offering respite and encouragement to young carers; mentoring young people leaving local authority care or showing new parents ways to help their child flourish.
There are millions of children, young people and families across the UK who have a lot to thank a social worker for and this is why we are immensely proud to be the sponsor of this prestigious award.
