Children’s Social Worker of the Year

           RECOGNISE INSPIRING SOCIAL WORK

Angela Adams

ORGANISATION: Cafcass

AWARD(S): Children's Social Worker of the Year

The judges were extremely impressed with the nomination for Angela. She possesses, to an unrivalled degree, all the traits that make good social workers outstanding – an excellent commitment to continued professional development, an exceptional ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency parties and, above all, an unwavering focus on the child and their needs.

As well as working as one of Cafcass’ Family Court Advisors, Angela is also leading a team portfolio on research into child development, attachment and the impact of violence on emotional well-being and domestic violence.

The judges commended Angela’s bold practice, her hardworking nature and commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients. Her work is frequently commended by judges and her recommendations have also been cited in High Court cases. She consistently holds a high case load and her throughput average is one of the highest within her service area.

Angela is also a supportive team player – she is often the first person her colleagues turn to for advice. Her ability to adapt to professional and organisational changes and adopt new models of practice has inspired her colleagues and helped to drive a wider organisational shift within Cafcass.

WHAT THEY SAID:

Angela comes across as a model of calm and is clearly an extremely hard working and committed social worker.

Dez Holmes, Director, Research in Practice

Angela is the epitome of an ‘expert’ family court social worker. She is able to influence the court, professionals and parents, resulting in better outcomes for numerous children each year. She is exceptional.

Sarah Parsons, Assistant Director, Cafcass

Angela instils hope in children whose lives have been blighted by disappointments, family conflict and lack of encouragement, by creating space for children to experience happiness and encouraging them that good things will happen in their lives.

Linda Kim-Newby, Senior Service Manager, CafcasS
