We are recruiting!
Are you someone with lived experience of social work?
The Social Work Awards is a registered charity which celebrates the outstanding achievements of social workers, social work teams and organisations in England.
We are seeking to appoint a Trustee with lived experience of social work. This could include, but is not limited to, a care leaver, carer or someone with a disability or mental health condition.
Drawing on your experience you will help to shape the development of the Social Worker of the Year Awards, strengthen our Board of Trustees and provide insightful contributions to help us to deliver our aims of:
- Giving recognition to the challenging work of qualified social workers
- Promoting best practice in the profession and celebrating success
- Improving understanding of the range of work which social workers undertake
- Celebrating and promoting diversity and equal opportunities in social care
Being a Trustee can be an enriching and fulfilling experience, giving you the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and support a cause you feel passionately about. We particularly welcome applicants who do not have previous experience of being a Trustee.
Role details
The Board of Trustees meet approximately four times a year and Trustees are also expected to attend the awards evening and Parliamentary Reception as an ambassador for the charity. We use accessible meeting locations and can make other necessary adjustments to meet accessibility requirements.
This is a voluntary position, although reasonable travel expenses to meetings will be reimbursed. We can also cover reasonable travel expenses if another person is needed for assistance.
This position is only open to applicants over the age of 18.
