I would like to congratulate not only
the winners of today’s awards but
also the nominees. To be shortlisted
for these awards is a tremendous achievement. The standard of
entries was extremely high and it is clear there is a lot of excellent
social work practice being
undertaken across the country.

Social work is often misunderstood,
with members of the public unaware
of the wide ranging nature of the
work. This is why I fully support
these awards which are not only
about recognising and celebrating
your achievements; but are also
about raising the awareness and understanding of our profession."
